Company President Rob Smith founded Timberline Guitars under the simple premise of building high quality, hand-made solid timber guitars for prices below where guitars of this quality had ever been sold before.
Joining Timberline Guitars as a managing partner and Executive Vice President in 2007, Ed Alves brings a wealth of skills and leadership expertise to the company. With over 30 years of sales and management experience with a number of high profile companies including Fender, Yamaha and Taylor Guitars, Ed has developed marketing, sales, and product development strategies that will help Timberline Guitars continue to design, manufacture, and distribute the finest guitars available.
Kevin Hall subsequently joined Timberline in the technical capacity of Bush–Dwelling Guitar Hermit. Smith and Alves run the business side from Southern California; Hall designs, tweaks, invents, refines, improves and generally creates guitar magic from the Timberline design studio in Ontario, Canada. Kevin also runs Timberline Music, Canada.
With a goal of producing the world’s finest hand-finished fretted instruments at their respective price points, Timberline pays close attention to modern techniques and production processes while paying respectful homage to the great guitar designs of the past.
Kevin Halls' history with C.F. Martin and Co ( Martin Guitars), and as independent product consultant / warranty agent for Guild, Yamaha and Washburn has afforded him over 35 years of lutherie and repair experience with legendary guitar manufacturing companies. The application of his expertise to Timberline® Guitars elevates our mid-priced instruments to the top ranks of hand constructed solid timber guitars of any class.
